John Wulfmeyer

As a retired architect, John is enjoying a new means of artistic self-expression of Imagination and Creativity.

Artist's Statement: “During the process of image making, I prefer to paint a subject not as I see it, but rather to reimagine every
aspect of the subject with imagination without repetition of style or technique…and to explore/find/understand which medium will best express the uniqueness of the image.”

In 2014, John retired after a 47 year career as an architect, licensed in New York, California, and
Colorado. John was well versed in all the disciplines of architecture, whether the project required
programming, conceptual design, client management, technical resolution and production, or
construction management. John designed award-winning urban planning projects and commercial
buildings.
In order to practice architecture, one must communicate ideas and solutions through the visual arts.
However, the imagination and creativity within architecture is influenced by codes, regulations, and
building material criteria, so John welcomes the Fine Arts with a new freedom for artistic expression.
Since John began his interest in Fine Art, he has created over 1250 works in a wide variety of mediums
and sizes. John has exhibited in juried shows from California to New York, and has received multiple awards by jury selection and people’s choice recognition.
